The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Field Support Office in Plano, TX was honored to give over 300 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in Plano.
“Last fall, I had the chance to get a group of colleagues to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was such an amazing experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They go beyond collecting food – they are an essential part of this community.”
Cheryl Jackson began Minnie’s Food Pantry as a way to celebrate her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent much of her childhood wondering if and where she would obtain her next meal. In addition to providing meals to families in need, Minnie’s also holds classes to teach families how to use the food they are given to make nutritious, long-lasting meals. They also offer resume assistance along with money-management and job classes to help members of the community get back on their feet.
Because around 50 pounds of food is given to each family to last them a month, Service Experts was able to feed six families for the month.
“Each member of the team was so thrilled that we had this food drive for them, and they even took time to show us their amazing facility,” Wilson said.
