Spring may have sprung but in Waldorf it’s not all warm and snug outside. Your furnace has been working for months attempting to keep you and your family comfortable, so now is the time to make sure you’re giving your furnace some love. If you hear abnormal noises or the heating system has turned itself off, you may be in need of a furnace repair. If you notice an intense gas smell, you almost certainly need furnace repair work and you should call A-PLUS Service Experts promptly.
Before you assume that you need a furnace repair technician, check out these tips from A-PLUS Service Experts.
- Check that your thermostat is switched to “heat.”
It may sound ridiculous, but we are always running and life happens, so sometimes it’s easy to miss the simple fixes. Forgetting to switch over the thermostat can make you assume you need furnace repair and installation when really you can remedy the problem with a literal flip of the switch!
- Check your furnace switch.
Speaking of switches, make sure your furnace switch is in the up, or “on” position. Like we said, an easy miss, especially when you remember this switch isn’t one you tend to look at frequently. Most units have built-in delays so make sure when you turn on your furnace you give it a few minutes to get going before panicking about calling our furnace repair man.
- Change your furnace air filter.
You should swap out your home’s air filters around every three months to help your furnace run more efficiently and postpone any furnace repair work. A filthy air filter is one of the most recurrent reasons for decreased performance in furnaces, and they can also be a breeding ground for germs and cause you and your loved ones to become sick. Swap your filter to keep both your furnace and your loved ones healthy. You may also schedule seasonal maintenance with A-PLUS and have a thorough furnace cleaning as part of your tune-up.
- Check the circuit breaker.
Make sure your circuit breaker (the one that controls your furnace) is in the “off” position and not the middle. If the breaker has been moved to the middle for some reason, move the breaker to “off” and then push it back to the “on” position.
Furnace repairs could be pricey, so avoid a potential issue altogether with seasonal maintenance from A-PLUS Service Experts. However, if you ever do need furnace repair, we are available 24/7/365 to provide all your heating needs.
