On July 7th, 2016, a peaceful Black Lives Matter-organized protest was concluding when shots echoed in Dallas. Panic ensued and by the end of the night, nine Dallas police officers were hurt and five lost their lives.
Within days, Dallas business owners and community leaders came together to raise money for the police officers and their families. Dos Jefes, a local bistro, hosted “Dine for Dallas Blue” and all of the money raised from the dinner and silent auction they hosted were given to the fallen and injured officers and their relatives.
Calverley Service Experts General Manager Tony Polendo was more than honored to get involved.
“I was out for my birthday dinner only blocks away from the terrible events of that evening,” Polendo recounted. “That night really struck home for me. As a military veteran, I have complete and total respect for any person who wears a uniform in an effort to protect and serve our community.”
“When my friend called to see if we would support this charity event by merely attending, I wanted to go beyond and not only attend, but contribute our time and effort as well.”
Tony and the Calverley Service Experts team collaborated with Lennox to auction off a new HVAC system with installation included at the Dine for Dallas Blue event. Below are a few pictures of the installation.
